Growing up in a family business supporting survivors of TBI, after her eldest brother's injury in 1979 began Kathleen's passion for helping others. She serves on multiple non-profit and advocacy boards and is highly experienced in team building appropriate supports for those in need. Her family founded VT's first residential care home for survivors of TBI in 1987, Lenny Burke Farm, Inc. and HIS Independence, Project, a Nonprofit Healthcare Advocacy and Alliance Organization which contracts state and federally licensed home and community based settings. Her daughter, Martha's autism diagnosis and need for ABA supports after age 21 created the vision of Martha's Barn Inc. She has been proudly serving the board since its inception in 2015, and stays current on professional development to support the unique needs of families.

The names behind the mission, YaYa Martha and YaYa Emma. Their granddaughter, Martha Emma is honored to give back to the Essex community where YaYa Martha owned and operated The Lincoln Inn at 5 Corners for generations and young Martha grew up under the Essex School district educational system. Martha's autism limits her ability to communicate her gratitude but her heart is filled with it. We thank all of those who impacted our lives. Martha uses an ABA technique called "Essential for Living" which is putting her hopes and dreams into action plans.
Her community connections have driven our vision into a mission. Since age 11, Martha has exuberantly expressed that she wants to be a farmer when she grows. This agriculturally zoned property is the ideal location for her to do so and share that with her peers.
